Learn how to use Symphos to evaluate early-stage projects and understand capital alignment before fundraising or outreach.
Getting Started
Symphos is an early-stage orientation and analysis platform. It helps:
- •Founders understand whether, how, and why their project may be aligned for outside capital
- •Analysts build reusable, explicit evaluation frameworks
- •Funds become legible objects of analysis through clearly articulated theses and constraints
Symphos is not a fundraising tool, investor directory, or outreach platform. Its purpose is clarity and judgment—before action.
Background
Symphos derives from the Greek root symphōnía—"sounding together." The name reflects the platform's core idea: meaningful signal emerges when a project, its assumptions, and a capital thesis are aligned and coherent.
Core Concepts
Projects
A Project represents an early-stage venture being evaluated for potential pre-seed or seed-stage outside capital.
Projects can be:
- • Created manually
- • Submitted via an intake form
- • Supplemented with documents or additional context
A project is not a pitch—it is a working representation of an idea and its current state of clarity.
Lenses
Lenses are customizable evaluation frameworks. Each lens defines:
- • Weighted criteria
- • Explicit requirements
- • Red-flag conditions
- • Interpretive labels
Lenses externalize judgment. They make evaluation logic visible, repeatable, and debuggable rather than implicit or purely intuitive.
Lenses clarify how something is being evaluated, not whether it should succeed.
Evaluations
When a project is run through a lens, Symphos generates an Evaluation. Evaluations include:
- • Criterion-level scores
- • Attention or confidence levels
- • Surfaced red flags
- • Identified gaps and next proof points
Evaluations are diagnostic, not prescriptive. They explain signal and uncertainty rather than producing pass/fail outcomes.
Capital
The Capital database contains early-stage investors and capital sources. In Symphos, capital sources are treated as objects of analysis, not destinations.
Each funder profile may include:
- • Stated thesis and focus areas
- • Stage and check-size patterns
- • Historical signals and constraints
Funder data exists to support alignment reasoning, not outreach or introductions.
Capital Alignment
Capital alignment represents the relative compatibility between a project and different capital profiles.
Alignment is presented as:
- • Explanatory fit analysis
- • Compatibility bands (e.g. high / moderate / low alignment)
- • Ordered context within bands based on explicit criteria
Alignment is not:
- • A list of recommended investors
- • A to-do list for outreach
- • A prediction of fundraising success
Every alignment position is accompanied by an explanation of why it appears where it does and what would need to change for that alignment to improve.
Alignment clarifies fit. It does not create access.
Workflows
For Founders
- 1Submit your project via the intake form or create one manually
- 2Review the general analysis for objective orientation
- 3Run lens-specific evaluations to explore different perspectives
- 4Examine capital alignment to understand which capital profiles fit—and why others do not
Symphos may indicate that outside capital is not yet appropriate. This outcome is intentional and valuable.
For Analysts
- 1Create lenses that encode your evaluation logic
- 2Define requirements that trigger red flags when unmet
- 3Run projects through lenses for consistent assessment
- 4Add notes to adjust scores using expert judgment
Symphos supports analysts in making reasoning explicit, not in automating decisions.
Key Features
- •AI-Powered Analysis

What Symphos Is — and Is Not
Symphos is:
- ✓A system for early-stage judgment
- ✓A tool for making assumptions and fit legible
- ✓Neutral, pre-capital infrastructure
Symphos is not:
- ✗A fundraising CRM
- ✗An investor marketplace
- ✗An introduction or outreach platform
- ✗A gatekeeper or approval system
Once a decision to pursue capital is made, Symphos steps out of the way.
Guiding Principle
Symphos exists to help people understand alignment, direction, and readiness so they act with intention.
